What Is Restorative Dentistry?
Restorative dentistry services are focused on repairs or replacement of damaged teeth. Whether your teeth are chipped and require extra protection, need treatment for infection with the help of a root canal, or need replacement using bridges or dentures, our restorative services can help.
The Importance Of Restorative Dentistry
Your oral health often relies on more than just preventative care. Most of us, at one time or another, will need restorative dentistry to fix a problem. Restorative treatments such as root canal therapy, crowns, extractions, and more have a significant impact on your overall oral health. That’s why it’s vital to quickly identify and address any issues to ensure you receive prompt, proper treatment.

Our Restorative Solutions
We offer a number of different restorative solutions to ensure that we can get you back to optimal dental health.
Root Canal Therapy
If you’re experiencing extreme discomfort in a tooth, you could be in need of root canal therapy. With a root canal, our dentist cleans out the infected tooth pulp from inside the tooth and then cleans and disinfects the area. We fill the cleaned area to prevent future infections, seal the tooth, and finally place a crown on top to provide extra strength and protection.
We understand that root canals may seem intimidating, but you don’t need to worry when you’re in our care. Our team will make sure you're comfortable throughout the process.
If your tooth has experienced extensive damage that can not be repaired by a filling, you may benefit from a dental crown. A crown is essentially a cap for your tooth. It’s made of a tooth-colored material, often resin or porcelain, and it’s bonded to the tooth to give you a permanent restoration.
To design your crown, we take images and impressions of your tooth, which a lab then uses to fabricate a crown for you. This ensures a snug, comfortable fit when we place it.
Despite our best efforts, there are times when we need to extract a tooth, whether due to damage or severe infection. At Velazquez Dental Clinic, we offer both simple and surgical tooth extractions, depending on your case.
- Simple tooth extraction: When we can see the tooth above the gum line, and it’s still in one piece, we can often perform a simple extraction. A simple extraction requires no incisions. We’ll take x-rays to confirm the condition of the tooth prior to beginning the extraction.
- Surgical tooth extraction: You may need a surgical tooth extraction if the tooth hasn’t erupted (is below the gum line), there is delicate bone impeding the area, or there is some other factor keeping us from a simple extraction. With a surgical extraction, we may make a small incision in the gums in order to access the tooth.
Patients who are missing a single tooth or multiple teeth in a row may need a dental bridge to restore their smile. A traditional dental bridge consists of crowns attached to natural teeth on either side of the gap, plus artificial teeth along the appliance that “bridge the gap” created by the missing teeth.
If you’re missing one or more teeth, visit our office to talk with us about a treatment plan that may include a dental bridge.
can help you get back to talking, smiling, and eating with confidence again.
- Full dentures: If you’re missing most or all of your teeth along the upper or lower jaw, full dentures may be for you. This set of replacement teeth is designed to look like your natural teeth and adhere snugly to the gum tissue by suction and adhesive.
- Partial dentures: Missing a few of the teeth in either your upper or lower arch makes you a good candidate for partial dentures. With this option, we make an appliance with artificial teeth and leave spaces where your natural teeth remain. The appliance snaps onto neighboring teeth for support, and the artificial teeth blend nicely with the surrounding teeth.
